Welcome to the Exhibitor Sustainability Guide for ISC West!

ISC West is on a multi-year journey to zero-waste, with the goal to divert 90% or more of event material waste away from landfills. Your participation as an exhibitor plays a crucial role in creating an environmentally responsible and sustainable event.

This guide will serve as your compass, offering insights, strategies, and practical tips to help you play an active role in participating in ISC West in a way that leaves a lasting impression and contributes to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious event industry. Let's embark on this journey together, redefining how we approach and execute ISC West with a focus on sustainability!

What is Sustainability?

Sustainability embodies the concept of conducting activities in a way that meets present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This includes:

  • Economic Sustainability - actively supporting and nurturing equitable economic growth, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and ensuring a fair distribution of wealth.
  • Environmental Sustainability - making a commitment to the responsible use of natural resources and implementing actions to regenerate and renew them.
  • Social Sustainability - championing social justice, addressing inequality, and improving overall quality of life, all while fostering business growth.

How Can Exhibitors Make a Difference?

Exhibitor booths at tradeshows have historically contributed significantly to waste generation; however, with careful planning, mindful material choices, and proactive arrangements for post-event take-backs and donations, exhibitors can play a substantial role in reducing the amount of materials destined for landfills.

Designing your exhibitor booth with a sustainable mindset is vital. Think beyond one event - a reusable booth, besides being cost efficient, showcases your commitment to sustainability and positions your business as forward-thinking. When designing your booth, look for opportunities to enhance sustainability across construction materials, packaging, décor and signage, food and beverage options, and promotional materials.

Construction Materials

When choosing materials, prioritize reusability and plan for retrieval. A sustainable approach not only reduces environmental impact, it provides cost savings with opportunities for future use.

Packaging

Make thoughtful decisions to streamline transportation and reduce packaging waste.

Décor and Signage

Seek opportunities for sustainable decor and signage in your exhibitor booth, from avoiding fresh florals to utilizing local sourcing and digital signage.
